The Preview

July 4, 2008 | 1 Comment

My Empire magazine was waiting for me when I got home tonight and this is always cause for a mini-celebration. :D

Flicking through to get a feel for what I need to read right away I stumbled on the previews for the coming year..  In it was a movie I never thought would not be possible to adapt - of course I should know better!.  But they have!  I just recently finished reading ‘The Road‘ by Cormac McCarthy and it was just haunting and sad!  But I really liked it… I must have I finished it in a week!

I am happy that they seem to have some very fitting actors to play the 2 main parts.  Viggo Mortensen most definitely looks how I imagined him!  I have some waiting to do as it is not out until January at the earliest - bummer!

I have a run of other films to see first.  Indy 4, Sex and the City, Wanted (AJ goodness!! drool), Kung Fu Panda (yes I am a child), Wall-E (most def a child ;)), The Dark Knight, Prince Caspian, Hancock, Mamma Mia (yes I am a closet Abba fan to some extent)… O O o can’t forget X-Files 2 (hmmm Gillian Anderson :D), Watchmen looks good, Hellboy 2.. Um, can’t think of anything else right now but that should keep me going a bit?

15,000

I have just hit the 15,000 visitor mark! Amazing. For me anyway.  This site in it’s many forms has been going a very long time so I guess 15,000 is pitiful but I like being the tortoise. ;)

So congrats to that person from North Carolina! :D

Now back to the big question.  The majority vote is to go for it and book my whirlwind trip to Seattle.  Home of Frasier and Coffee and the big Needle and to being sleepless in said city.. etc etc.  I have just managed to work out that there are [obviously] places to stay IN the city rather than on the outskirts.  But seriously, no matter what I did most of the hotels I found were miles away!! Today I found a hotel near the venue - good for me and myself and I.

I think I will pluck up the courage to do it at the weekend.  When I can sit down and work out whether I want to go via Schipol and then via Detroit and be on the move for 20 hours or to try find that more direct 1 stop route.. *ponders*

Now, I am crazy yes I know..

But how crazy is it to consider flying halfway across the world just to see someone in concert?

Like even if I justify it by saying it’s only £550 (ish) for flight & hotel.. That doesn’t include ticket cost, food & transport etc.. but it’s only for a 4 day trip.  I mean our lecturers do it for silly conferences, yes we pay for them to go.. but seriously.  It’s just the same, right? *grasping at straws*

Am I crazy… Should I just quit thinking about it Right.NOW?

Two Weeks

OMG! Where has the time gone??

It is just under 2 weeks until I go away on holiday, I thought I had more time than I did!  I have only just managed to rough out an itinerary today despite the map sitting on the dining room table for over 1 month! SHITE!!

So, me and dear Mama are off on a lil’ol road trip round Scotland for 2 weeks.  Google gave me a rough estimate of our mileage.  1115 miles! Not taking into account sight-seeing.  EEK! :o  That’s one hell of a drive for 2 weeks.

We are mainly doing the West of Scotland, but here is what I have worked out so far:

Ayr - Arran - Kintyre - Mull - Fort William - Skye - Inverness - Aberdeen - Home.

I take comfort in the fact a visiting Professor went to Skye & Inverness in 1 Bank Holiday weekend!! So, I am sure we can do all that in 2 weeks.  If not, then we can come home! :D

So, we are sort of winging this trip.  We are going to stop at the nearest guest house/B & B type place and stay over for however many nights… I think it will work out, I have planned the length of stays but we are open to changes.  I hope it is nice, I hope it works out.  I hope we don’t kill each other, but I will have my trusty Mac/iPod to keep me company if not…  I am justifying the Mac so I can transfer photos straight onto it! ;)

Two weeks… ARGH!

Wii

June 23, 2008 | 2 Comments

My brother has bought a Wii!!

His family need a new bath tub as his partner put her foot through it, but that isn’t as important as getting a Wii (apparently!). ;)

So, we all trooped off for Sunday lunch just as an excuse to try it out.  It was a lot of fun, but yknow there was something bothering me as my arms were about to fall off trying to get Luigi to row his fecking boat!! It IS fun, and would be mega at a party (especially one that included alcohol) but to me I love my Xbox.  The Xbox is proper gamers console and that’s what I love the most.  I think I would be disappointed if I bought a Wii instead. But it was good fun for the hour I spent on it.

Now… the Xbox.  I still love it (as I just said) and have discovered that I can be a laid-back guitar player.  None of this standing up, getting sore feet malarky.  The benefit of having the console in my bedroom is that I can lie down and play.. :D Perfect for a lazy sunday morning/afternoon methinks. :D :D :D
